What is RIMS

UDSM Research Information Management System (RIMS) is a web-based platform that streamlines the management of research activities at the University of Dar es Salaam. It enables staff and students to register research proposals, submit publications for vetting, apply for research grants, request ethical clearance, process research permits, manage research projects, and access research information from a single system.

Login into the system

1. STUDENTS

Registered postgraduate students can log in using one of the following two methods:

• Local Account: Enter your Registration Number (e.g., 2025-04-00001) as your username, followed by your password.
• UDSM Account: If you have an official UDSM email address, you may log in using your university email and password.

2. STAFF

Registered staff may log in using either their local credentials (username and password) or their UDSM account. When opting for the UDSM account, please provide your university email address and password.

3. RESEARCH AFFILIATES

• Registered Research Affiliates & Associates: Please log in using your local credentials (username and password).
• Prospective Candidates: If you are applying for a new associateship, please [click here] to access the application form and begin the registration process.

NOTE

1. For new Registration (Staff/Student), Please send the following details to the Email Address: rims.support@udsm.ac.tz 

   • Student/Staff Full Name
   • Student/Staff Registration number/ID number
   • College/School/Institute 
   • Department
   • Attach your scanned student/staff ID

2. For Registered Users: If you forgot the password of your local account:

   Under the login page, click on Forgot Your Password, then enter your email address, and click on the Send password reset link. If successfully reset link will be sent to your email address.
